# Use Bytown from your AI assistant > Add one URL to the assistant you already use, sign in to Bytown, and ask about your ads right there. Every change still waits for your yes. Source: https://bytown.co/docs/ai-assistants · Updated October 20, 2026 Bytown has a connector that plugs into the AI assistants you already use. Once it's added, you can ask Claude, ChatGPT, Meta Muse, Grok or Instinct about your campaigns, get audits and reports, and have changes staged for your approval, without opening Bytown. The connector uses MCP, the open standard assistants use to add outside tools. You don't need to know anything about it. One address works in every assistant: ```text Connector URL https://ads.bytown.co/mcp ``` ## Connect in 3 steps [Watch: How to Connect Your Ads to Claude or ChatGPT (MCP Setup) (0:56)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGhJ72eG9kA) ### Copy the connector URL The same URL works everywhere: `https://ads.bytown.co/mcp`. ### Add it to your assistant Every assistant has a screen for adding a custom connector or MCP server. Paste the URL there. Exact steps for each app are in the guides below. ### Sign in to Bytown and pick a business Your assistant opens Bytown's own sign-in page. Sign in the way you normally do, with email or Google, then choose the business the assistant should work on and choose **Allow access**. - [Claude](/docs/connect-claude) | Claude on the web, desktop and phone, plus Claude Code. | msg - [ChatGPT and Codex](/docs/connect-chatgpt) | ChatGPT developer mode, ChatGPT dots and Codex. | msg - [Meta Muse](/docs/connect-meta-muse) | One message to Muse creates the connector. | msg - [Grok and Grok Bot](/docs/connect-grok) | A custom connector in Grok, or a plugin in Grok Bot. | msg - [Instinct](/docs/connect-instinct) | Text Instinct the URL and approve once. | msg - [Cursor, Antigravity and others](/docs/other-mcp-clients) | Cursor, Google Antigravity, the Gemini CLI and any assistant with remote MCP sign-in. | terminal ## What you approve at sign-in The sign-in page is Bytown's own, at ads.bytown.co. It asks one question, which business the assistant should work on, for example **Which business should Claude work on?** Then it lists exactly what the assistant will be able to do: - read performance from this business's connected ad accounts - propose changes to campaigns, budgets and targeting, each one applied only after you confirm it The assistant can't see your other businesses. It never receives your Bytown password, and it never sees your Google, Meta, LinkedIn, Microsoft or ChatGPT Ads logins. ## What the assistant can do | It can | It can't | |---|---| | Read results for the business's connected ad accounts | See your other Bytown businesses | | Read Google Analytics traffic and key events, if connected | Change your Google Analytics setup | | Run audits and build reports | Change your Bytown plan, billing or invoices | | Propose changes to budgets, bids, keywords, targeting, ads and campaigns, including pauses and removals | Apply a change without its own confirmation step | It works with the same permissions as your own Bytown login. If you can only read results on a business, so can the assistant. ## How changes work When you ask for a change, the assistant shows you a one-line summary of exactly what will happen, for example "Set the daily budget for campaign Spring Sale to $75." Nothing has changed at that point. ### Read the summary The summary names the platform, the campaign and the new value. Money is in your ad account's currency. ### Confirm in the same conversation Say yes in the chat where the change was proposed. Your assistant may also ask you to approve the action in its own interface. ### See the result The assistant tells you once the platform has applied it. If you say no, the change is discarded. **Confirm assistant changes in the assistant.** A change staged from Claude, ChatGPT or another assistant waits 15 minutes for your yes in that conversation. It doesn't appear in the Bytown app, and after 15 minutes it expires with nothing changed. ## Plans Every paid plan includes the connector: standard MCP on Pro and advanced MCP on Max. Agency-managed businesses have it too. Bytown charges nothing extra, and your assistant's own plan covers the AI side. Some assistants limit custom connectors by plan. Each setup guide says what you need. ## Manage or disconnect In Bytown, open **Connections → AI assistants**. Under each assistant, **Connected assistants** lists the ones you connected to the business you're in, with when you connected each and when it was last used. Assistants without a row of their own, such as Grok, Muse and Instinct, are under **Other MCP assistants**. Use the business switcher to see the ones on your other businesses. Choose **Disconnect** next to an assistant to cut its access straight away. Your ad accounts stay untouched, and you can connect it again any time. To move an assistant to a different business, disconnect it here first, then connect it again and pick the new business. ## Privacy The assistant receives only the results of what you ask for. If you ask it to work with leads or customer lists, those records, including names, emails and phone numbers, go to the assistant too. Bytown does not sell connector data and does not use it to train AI models. Your assistant provider's own privacy policy covers what happens inside their app. The full detail is in our [privacy policy](/privacy#ai-assistants). ## Common questions ### Is the connector safe to use with real ad accounts? Yes. The assistant works inside one business, with your own permissions, and it never sees a password or an ad platform login. Every change is staged with a plain summary, and Bytown tells the assistant to get your yes before it confirms. You can disconnect any assistant you connected at any time from the Connections page. ### Do I pay extra for the connector? No. Standard MCP comes with Pro and advanced MCP comes with Max, with no add-on fee and no separate bill. You bring your own Claude, ChatGPT or other assistant account, and its plan covers the AI usage. Bytown does the campaign work, so there is nothing else to buy. ### Can I connect more than one assistant? Yes. Connect as many as you like, for example Claude on your laptop and Instinct on your phone. Each one shows up separately on the Connections page of the business it works on, with its own last-used date, so you can disconnect any of them on its own without touching the rest.
