Chat with Bytown
Chat is where you run Bytown. Ask for an audit, a report, a new campaign or a fix, in plain English, and approve any change before it happens.
Open Chat from the sidebar. On a phone it's called New chat. Type what you want the way you'd brief a colleague. Bytown reads your connected accounts, does the work and answers in the same thread.
What you can ask
An empty chat offers 4 groups of starters. Pick one, or write your own.
| Group | Starters you'll see |
|---|---|
| Create | Launch a Google Search campaign · Build a Meta retargeting campaign · Set up a lead-gen campaign · Write ad copy variations · Clone my best-performing campaign |
| Optimize | Cut wasted ad spend · Reallocate budget to top performers · Improve my underperforming ads · Tune bids & negative keywords · Set up an A/B test |
| Report | Summarize last week's performance · Compare this week vs last week · Build a client-ready report · Flag campaigns that need attention |
| Audit | Audit my Google Ads account · Find quick wins across all channels · Review my account structure · Check for policy & disapproval issues · Benchmark me against my industry |
Below the starters is a prompt library with longer, ready-made briefs, such as a Google account audit for an online store or a Meta creative fatigue report.
Questions that only read your data answer straight away. Anything that would change an ad account becomes an approval card first. See Approvals and changes.
Prompts that work well
Name the platform, the time window and the outcome you care about. Bytown does the rest.
How did my Google campaigns perform last week vs the week before? Which campaigns spent money with zero conversions this month? Audit my search terms and add negatives for anything irrelevant. Raise the daily budget on my Spring Sale campaign to $75. Write 5 new headlines for my best Meta ad and set up an A/B test. Build a client-ready report for September across Google and Meta. Pause any ad with a cost per lead above $80 in the last 14 days. Clone my best-performing campaign for our new location.
Pick the platforms
When you've connected more than one platform, the platform picker above the message box sets where Bytown looks: all of them, or just one. Choose one platform when you want a focused answer, such as a Google-only audit.
Add images and videos
Attach creative to a message with Upload a creative or Add from your library. You can add up to 10 files per message in JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, MP4 or MOV format. Bytown can use them in new ads or review them for you.
Long requests
Big jobs across several platforms keep running after you close the tab. The thread shows when the run finished and how long it took, and any approval cards it raised wait for you there.
Keep your chats tidy
Rename, star or archive any chat from its menu. Archived chats live under Chat → Archived, and you can delete a chat you no longer need.
The Content Library
Content in the sidebar holds every creative you can use in an ad: uploads, generated images and synced files. Sort them into folders and tags, then select a few and start a chat with them attached.
Common questions
Can Bytown change my ads without asking?
No. Chat answers questions straight away, but any change to an ad account becomes an approval card with the exact before and after. Nothing happens until you choose Approve on that card. If you decline or ignore it, the account stays exactly as it was.
Which assistant runs inside the Bytown chat?
The chat is Bytown's own assistant, built for running ads, and it is included in your plan. If you prefer to work in Claude, ChatGPT, Meta Muse, Grok or Instinct, you can connect Bytown there too. See the guide to AI assistants for the setup.
