Meta Muse AI Agent and Your Ads: What It Can Do

TL;DR

Partly. The Meta Muse AI agent connects your Meta ad accounts, analyzes what's working, flags problems and drafts campaigns, and Meta says nothing spends without your approval. It covers Facebook and Instagram only. Google, LinkedIn and ChatGPT Ads need a connector such as Bytown.

  • Cost: Muse is free with a usage limit; paid plans are $20 and $100 a month.
  • Where: the US and Canada, in the Muse app, at muse.ai and inside WhatsApp.
  • Other ad platforms: add Bytown as a custom connector, with 229 ad tools (counted Oct 10, 2026).
  • Advantage+: Meta's automation inside Ads Manager. It adjusts delivery on its own once a campaign is live.

My setup: Muse on my phone, Bytown doing the ad work, and my yes on every change.

Published by Bytown: what the Meta Muse AI agent does with your ad account, where it stops, and how Bytown plugs in. Meta added ad accounts to Muse on September 29, 2026, 3 weeks after Muse itself launched.

I use Muse on my own ad accounts, with Bytown connected as a custom connector. I haven't run Muse's built-in Meta ad tools on a live account, so that half of this page quotes Meta directly. The Bytown half is what I actually do.

Bytown is my company and it's in the comparison below, so weigh my view with that in mind. Muse is a Meta product, and Bytown is not affiliated with Meta.

What is Meta Muse?

Muse is Meta's personal AI agent: you give it a goal in plain words and it does the tasks for you. Meta launched it on September 8, 2026, in the Meta Muse app, at muse.ai and inside WhatsApp, where "talking to it works just like messaging another person."

By September 29, Meta was calling it "a personal AI agent available in the US and Canada that completes tasks on your behalf." That day it added Muse for Small Business: a set of business skills, plus connectors to the tools owners already run on.

It isn't a separate app. Meta describes it as expanding Muse "with a collection of new skills and connectors inside Muse." You get the same Muse, with your business accounts connected.

Why does this matter?

For an advertiser, the useful question isn't what Muse is. It's what Muse can do inside your ad account, and what it can't.

What Muse does with your Meta ad account

Muse reads your Meta ad account, analyzes it, flags what isn't working and drafts your next campaign. In Meta's words: "Muse can connect your Instagram professional account analytics, Facebook Pages, and Meta ad accounts in a few clicks, and it already understands your business."

Meta's suggested prompt for ads shows the job it has in mind: "How do I improve my ads and content? Can you analyze what's working or not, and draft a campaign for next week? Make sure to look at what's trending."

The spending rule is one line: "You're in control: nothing publishes, sends, or spends without your approval." That's the right default for anything touching an ad account.

Meta Newsroom@MetaNewsroom

Today, we’re announcing Muse for Small Business. Muse, Meta’s new personal AI agent, is one of the most important products we've built for the era of personal superintelligence.

Now, we're expanding it with a collection of new skills and connectors inside Muse to help people…

So, what's the catch?

Meta's announcement doesn't say Muse can set an ad budget, change a bid, boost a post or build ads inside Ads Manager. Maybe it will. Until Meta documents it, I'd treat Muse as an analyst and a drafter for your Meta ads, not as the person who runs them.

Can Muse run my Facebook ads?

It can help, and for a business that only advertises on Facebook and Instagram it may be enough. I still don't let it run mine alone.

I decided to use Bytown because Bytown is actually specialized in ads and also gets access to all of my other accounts, not just to Facebook or Instagram. Muse on its own sees 1 ad platform.

Let's be honest:

For Meta ads, Muse is a competitor to Bytown. It's free for most of what people need, it lives on the phone you already carry, and it comes from the company that owns the ad platform. If you're Meta-only and happy approving its suggestions, start there.

The gap opens the moment you advertise anywhere else. With Bytown connected, I can let Muse run across multiple channels, not missing out on other placements I can get from YouTube, Google, or, for some businesses, LinkedIn and also ChatGPT.

The honest answer is that Muse is a great front door. The ad work behind it still needs a specialist, and that can be a tool, a person, or both.

Muse vs Bytown vs Advantage+

3 different things get called "AI running my Meta ads", and they don't do the same job.

Advantage+ is Meta's automation inside Ads Manager. Once a campaign is live, it decides the audience, the placements and the budget split on its own.

Muse is an assistant you talk to. Bytown is an ad tool you can talk to from Muse, Claude or ChatGPT.

In other words:

They stack. Advantage+ can run inside a campaign, Bytown reads the results and stages the next change, and Muse is the chat window on your phone where you say yes.

How I run my ads from Muse

It connects in one click, super easy, and I get access to all of my ad accounts, not just Meta. I use Muse for the routines it already runs for me personally. When the question is about ads, Muse hands it to Bytown.

What surprised me was the quality of the answers. Bytown provides much better and clearer advice on what to do with my ad account. It reads the numbers in every connected account before it answers.

These are the 3 questions I ask. The answers below are illustrative, on a demo account, so you can see the shape of a reply.

You ask

What are the three things that I need to pay attention to?

Read every connected ad account · this week

Here's what needs your attention this week.

Meta: video ad B is bringing leads for less than ad A. It deserves more of the budget.

Google Ads: several search terms in Campaign X spent money without a single lead.

LinkedIn: the same people are seeing your ad too often, and clicks are falling. The creative is tired.

Want me to stage fixes for any of these?

Prompt 1. Bytown reads every connected account and puts the problems in order of money at stake. Illustrative answer on a demo account.
You ask

What are the top recommendations?

Read campaign and ad results · this month

Top recommendations, biggest money at stake first: pause Campaign X on Meta, which spent this month without a lead; block the Google search terms that never convert; and refresh the LinkedIn creative.

I've staged the first one for your yes.

Prompt 2. Every change arrives staged, with its before and after. Bytown tells the assistant to get your yes before it confirms.
You ask

How can I improve my accounts across all platforms to get more leads?

Compared cost per lead · Google, Meta, LinkedIn and ChatGPT Ads

Meta is your cheapest source of leads right now. Google brings fewer leads, but better ones.

My suggestions: shift some budget from LinkedIn to the Meta ad set that's winning; make new versions of your best Meta ad so the winners compete; and send Google traffic to a page built for that search.

Each move comes to you as a change to approve.

Prompt 3. A cross-platform answer needs every account connected, which is the Max plan. Illustrative answer on a demo account.

I've specifically also instructed Muse, for all ads, to use all the skills that Bytown provides. That's a standing instruction inside Muse.

Behind it sit 229 ad tools (counted Oct 10, 2026), 64 of them for Meta alone. Muse doesn't have that, but through Bytown, Muse can use it.

The one I like most is the creative loop. Bytown looks through Meta and Instagram, sorts your ads into winners and losers, then creates new ads from the winners and does it over and over. It runs across your other accounts too.

Here's what it means.

You find the winners in week 1, build more ads like them, and let the winners compete against each other. In Muse, each pause and each new ad still arrives as a change for you to approve.

That's why doing it in Muse matters to an owner. You might be waiting at the airport. You don't have to open a laptop: the check runs, the changes arrive as cards, and one yes applies each one.

Muse is still a small slice of how Bytown customers connect. My estimate in September 2026: about 50% use Claude, 30–35% use ChatGPT, and the rest use Muse, Grok Bot or WhatsApp, which is Bytown's own channel rather than an assistant.

How to connect Bytown to Muse

There's no settings page to hunt for. You send Muse one message and sign in once. The full walkthrough is in the Bytown Docs.

  1. Connect your ad accounts in Bytown. Muse sees exactly the accounts you connect under Connections, and nothing else.
  2. Ask Muse to add the connector. Send it this message: Create a custom connector called Bytown for https://ads.bytown.co/mcp
  3. Sign in and pick your business. Bytown opens its own sign-in page. Choose the business Muse should work on and allow access. Muse gets your login's permissions for that 1 business and never sees a password.
  4. Give Muse a standing instruction. Try "List my ad accounts" first, then send: For anything about my ads, use Bytown and its ad tools. Always show me a change before you make it.

Here's the deal:

Bytown connects as a custom connector, and Meta is clear about what that means. Its help page says "Meta doesn't review custom connectors or how they use your information, so grant access with caution and review the provider's privacy policies."

What Bytown does about that.

  • You sign in on Bytown's own page. Muse receives a token for 1 business, never your Google or Meta login.
  • Every change is staged with its exact before and after, and nothing applies until you confirm it in the chat.
  • You can disconnect Muse from the Connections page in Bytown, and it loses access at once.

Your ad accounts stay yours either way. Disconnecting changes nothing inside them.

The same connector works from other assistants, so you can use Muse on your phone and something else at your desk. The Muse page shows the setup on screen.

Which Muse connectors matter for your marketing

On September 29, Meta named 15 connectors you can add: Asana, Box, Canva, Dropbox, Figma, Granola, HighLevel, Intuit QuickBooks, Klaviyo, Lovable, Notion, Shopify, Slack, Stripe and Zoom. Your Facebook and Instagram business accounts connect on top of those.

Only a few of them touch marketing directly:

  • Klaviyo, for email. Klaviyo says Muse can "analyze customer and marketing data, draft campaigns, and schedule sends."
  • Canva, for creative. Canva's line is that its templates and tools "are right there when you need them."
  • HighLevel, for leads. HighLevel says Muse can help with "managing leads, coordinating and booking meetings, updating customer information".

Bottom line?

None of the 15 reaches a Google, LinkedIn or ChatGPT Ads account. For those, a custom connector is the path today, and that's the gap Bytown fills.

Where Bytown is today (Oct 13, 2026)

Bytown works in Muse today as a custom connector, and I use it that way on my own accounts. It isn't in Muse's connector directory yet. When that changes, I'll update this page with the date.

FAQ

What is Meta Muse?

Meta Muse is Meta's personal AI agent, launched on September 8, 2026. You give it a goal in plain words and it completes tasks for you in the Muse app, at muse.ai or inside WhatsApp. Muse for Small Business, added on September 29, connects business tools and Meta ad accounts.

Can Meta Muse run my Facebook ads?

Muse can connect your Meta ad accounts, analyze what's working, suggest improvements and draft a campaign. Meta says nothing publishes, sends or spends without your approval. Meta hasn't documented Muse setting budgets, changing bids or boosting posts, so treat it as an analyst for Facebook and Instagram, not a media buyer.

Is Meta Muse free?

Yes, for most use. Meta's help page says Muse is free with a usage limit, and the paid plans are Power at $20 a month and Maximum at $100 a month, the same for small businesses. Bytown is a separate flat plan if you connect it, from $199 a month.

Does Meta Muse work in Canada?

Yes. Meta's September 29, 2026 announcement describes Muse as available in the US and Canada, and Muse for Small Business launched in both. Meta's help page adds that Muse subscriptions are still in limited testing and aren't available in every location yet.

Does Muse see my ad data?

Only what you connect: with a Meta ad account connected, Muse reads it to analyze and suggest. Meta says Muse doesn't share your conversations or the data in its virtual machine with Meta's ad systems. With Bytown connected, Muse sees only the ad accounts of the business you picked when you signed in.

Can I connect other tools to Muse?

Yes: Meta named 15 connectors on September 29, including Canva, Klaviyo, HighLevel, Shopify and QuickBooks. You can also ask Muse to create a custom connector for a service it doesn't support yet. Meta doesn't review custom connectors, so check the provider before you grant access.

Is Meta Muse good for ads?

It's good at reading a Meta ad account and drafting ideas, and it's free for most use. Its limit is reach: on its own it sees only Facebook and Instagram. I connect Bytown so Muse can check Google, YouTube, LinkedIn and ChatGPT Ads too, with every change waiting for my yes.
