Data Deletion Instructions
Last updated: April 22, 2026
1. Overview
This page explains how to delete your Bytown account and all personal data associated with it, including data obtained from connected advertising platforms such as Google Ads, Meta (Facebook and Instagram), and LinkedIn Ads.
You have two options: delete your account yourself from inside the Bytown dashboard (fastest), or email us a deletion request.
2. Option A — Delete your account in the dashboard
You can delete your account and all associated data directly from Bytown:
- Sign in at ads.bytown.co/login.
- Open Settings from the sidebar.
- Go to the Account tab.
- Click Delete my account and confirm when prompted.
Once confirmed, your account is immediately disabled, your OAuth tokens for all connected ad platforms are revoked, and the deletion of your personal data begins automatically.
3. Option B — Email a deletion request
If you cannot sign in, or you prefer to request deletion by email, send a message to [email protected] with:
- Subject: "Data Deletion Request"
- Body: the email address associated with your Bytown account and confirmation that you want your account and associated data deleted.
We verify ownership of the account before processing any deletion request. We will confirm receipt within 3 business days and complete the deletion within 30 days.
4. What gets deleted
Upon deletion, we remove:
- Account data — email, name, profile photo, authentication metadata
- Business profile — company name, description, website URL, social links, AI-generated business intelligence
- Connected ad platform data — encrypted OAuth tokens, ad account IDs, campaign performance metrics retrieved from Google Ads, Meta, and LinkedIn APIs
- Campaign data — campaign content, budgets, performance snapshots generated inside Bytown
- Conversation data — chat history with our AI agents and tool interactions
- Preferences — role, seniority level, privacy mode choice, email subscription settings
5. What may be retained
In limited cases, we may retain certain records after deletion:
- Backups — data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days after deletion before being fully purged.
- Anonymized analytics — aggregated, anonymized usage statistics that cannot be linked back to you may be retained indefinitely.
- Legal obligations — records we are legally required to retain (e.g., tax or audit records) will be kept for the minimum period required by law.
- Email delivery logs — retained for 12 months for deliverability monitoring.
6. Revoking access on Meta (Facebook and Instagram)
Deleting your Bytown account revokes our OAuth tokens for Meta automatically. If you want to remove Bytown from your Meta account directly — for example before deleting your Bytown account — you can do so at any time:
- Go to facebook.com/settings → Business Integrations.
- Find "Bytown" in the list of connected apps.
- Click Remove and confirm.
Once removed, Meta immediately invalidates our access tokens. Any Meta data we previously retrieved will still be deleted by following the deletion steps above.
7. Revoking access on Google Ads
Deleting your Bytown account revokes our Google OAuth tokens automatically. You can also remove Bytown from your Google account directly at any time:
- Go to myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Find "Bytown" in the list of connected apps.
- Click Remove access and confirm.
We delete all stored Google OAuth tokens within 30 days of disconnect.
8. Revoking access on LinkedIn Ads
To remove Bytown from your LinkedIn account: go to LinkedIn → Settings → Data Privacy → Permitted services, find Bytown, and click Remove.
9. Deletion timeline
- In-dashboard self-service deletion — account disabled immediately; full data removal within 30 days.
- Email deletion request — acknowledged within 3 business days; completed within 30 days after identity verification.
- OAuth token revocation — immediate upon account deletion or manual disconnect.
- Encrypted backups — fully purged within 90 days.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, or port your data under GDPR (EEA/UK/Switzerland), the CCPA (California), or similar laws. See our Privacy Policy for details on exercising these rights.
